Pakistan Announces Squad for ICC Women T20 World Cup 2024
On 25th August 2024, Pakistan announces squad for ICC Women T20 World Cup 2024 and 22-year-old Fatima Sana took over the captaincy from Nida Dar. Nida Dar is a part of the squad named for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. The Women’s National Selection Committee unanimously decided to change the women’s team captain before the T20 World Cup.
Fatima Sana, a bowling all-rounder, takes 31 T20I wickets and the average is 30.09. She also scored 215 runs in the T20 format with a brilliant strike rate of over 100. Fatima Sana led the Pakistan emerging team and the domestic team. It’s an honor for her to captain the side against the famous ODI win against the New Zealand Women’s team. This renowned match was played at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch in December 2023.
There is only one change in the squad of Pakistan Women’s T20I Team as compared to the recently played Women’s Asia Cup. Sadaf Shamas, a right-handed batter, is included in the squad and replaced the wicket-keeper batter, Najiha Alvi. Sadaf Shamas makes a comeback after the T20 World Cup 2023 played in South Africa and Najiha Alvi will travel with the team as the only traveling reserve player.
