Sri Lanka Announces Squad for ICC Women T20 World Cup 2024

Chamari Athapaththu, an inspirational leader of the Sri Lankan Women’s team, will lead the squad in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Sri Lanka announces squad for ICC Women T20 World Cup 2024 and this team is similar to the team who won the first-ever Asia Cup for Sri Lanka in July 2024. Inoka Ranaweera is also included in the T20 WC Squad.

Ranaweera has experience of more than 12 years and left-arm spinner who will be the key bowler for Sri Lanka in the condition of United Arab Emirates. Ranaweera played Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2024 and it was her last assignment.

The last 18 months have been going well for Sri Lankan Women’s cricket. Sri Lankan women won the 1^st ever series against England & South Africa and it’s a first-time win in any format. They also won the Asia Cup for the 1^st time in July 2024. Sri Lanka women qualified for this T20 World Cup from the qualification stage and this team had been unbeaten in the qualification stage.

Sri Lankan women’s team captain, Chamari Athapaththu, has scored the highest number of runs in this format and is expected to continue her performance in this T20 World Cup too. She is the match-winner for her team and has already given a match-winning performance.

Alongside the captain, Vishmi Gunaratne & Harshitha Madhavi are there to support their team and strengthen the top-order position. They scored a hundred on the recent tour to Ireland.

Kavisha Dilhari, the wicket-taker bowler, is also a part of this squad and got 9 wickets in the recently conducted Asia Cup. She remained in the 2^nd position in terms of taking wickets and got 2^nd highest wickets in the event.
