Australia Announces squad for ICC Women T20 World Cup 2024

On August 26, 2024, the 6-time Women’s World T20 champions Australia announces squad for ICC Women T20 World Cup 2024. Alyssa Healy will lead Australia in the upcoming event in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Tahlia McGrath named vice-captain of the team.

There are only three changes in Australia’s 15-member squad from the 2023 Women’s T20 WC with Tayla Vlaeminck, Sophie Molineux, and Phoebe Litchfield joining the Aussie squad in place of Jess Jonassen, Heather Graham, and retired Meg Lanning. Australia has covered all their basics with a variety of options in batting, bowling, and all-rounder categories.

The Australian selector Shawn Flegler believes that Australia has a balanced squad for the upcoming tournament and is confident of a strong show in the event.

Selector Shawn Flegler said, “We have had our complete contract list available for selection for the first time in a long time ahead of a World Cup, and resulted in a really balanced and stable squad.” He further said that Alyssa Healy will have the command for the first time at a World Cup and we have seen already what Alyssa Healy and Tahlia McGrath bring to the team from a leadership side.
