England Announces Squad for ICC Women T20 World Cup 2024
On 27th August 2024, England announces squad for ICC Women T20 World Cup 2024 and Heather Knight once again will lead the side in the upcoming T20 World Cup. ECB announced the squad after the domestic competition and players were rewarded in terms of performance in the domestic session.
Linsey Smith, a spin bowler, performed well in the Hundreds competition along with pace bowler Lauren Bell, all-rounder Dani Gibson, and wicket-keeper batter Bess Heath guaranteed their place in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
The big name of English Women’s cricket, Tammy Beaumont, wasn’t able to get a place in the T20 Squad of WC. Although, she performed well in the Hundreds League and scored 164 runs. Along with Tammy, Kate Cross & Lauren Filer weren’t included in the Women’s T20 World Cup squad as well.
Heather Knight, English Women’s team captain, was excited to be told that Mega events like the ICC World Cup are special events for her & for her players and she is confident about her squad. She also added that it’s an honor to lead the team once again in the T20 World Cup and looking forward to the challenges & opportunities in the coming Women’s T20 WC 2024.
Jon Lewis, Head Coach of England’s Women, also added his words that these 15 players are the combination of experience, youth, and skills and it’s a well-balanced squad. They can excel better in the conditions of the United Arab Emirates.
