ICC announced Warm-up Matches of T20 World Cup 2024
On Thursday, May 16, 2024, the ICC announced warm-up matches of T20 World Cup 2024. A total of 16 warm-up matches of the T20 World Cup will be played in 6 days among 17 teams between May 27, 2024, and June 01, 2024, in the West Indies and the United States of America.
13 teams including Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Netherlands, Scotland, Uganda, Namibia, Nepal, Oman, USA, Canada, and PNG will play two warm-up matches each. The Co-Hosts West Indies, Ireland, and India are the 3 teams who will play their one warm-up match each. South Africa will play one intra-squad warm-up match.
The finalists of the 2022 T20 World Cup England and Pakistan will not play any of the warm-up matches due to late arrival at the World Cup 2024 after the conclusion of their T20I series. On the other hand, New Zealand will also not play any warm-up match of the T20 World Cup 2024 due to the late arrival at the tournament of their IPL-bound players.

A total of 17 teams out of 20 teams will play these 16 warm-up matches of T20 World Cup 2024 in four different venues of the co-hosts West Indies and United States. All the warm-up matches will contain 20 overs per side and will not have the status of T20 internationals. The teams playing warm-up games have a chance to experiment with their squads. All the teams are allowed to field their all-15-member squad during the warm-up match. Teams can now choose to play up to 2 warm-up games depending on their arrival time at the tournament.
