New Zealand Announces Squad for ICC Women T20 World Cup 2024

On 10th September 2024, New Zealand announces squad for ICC Women T20 World Cup 2024. Sophie Devine has been named as captain of the New Zealand women’s team and the World Cup will start on 3rd October 2024. She has been part of all previous editions of the T20 World Cup and this edition would be her straight 9th edition of this mega event. In the 1st two editions, the New Zealand women’s team was the runner-up and now she aims to win the T20 crown for the 1st time.

This is the most experienced squad of this team with the names of Suzie Bates, Lea Tahuhu, Amelia Kerr, and Maddy Green. Suzie Bates alongside Sophie was part of every women’s World Cup edition.

New Zealand’s key pace attacker, Rosemary Mair, joined the team to strengthen the bowling line after the injury, and due to injury, she also missed the tour against England in July 2024. Alongside Rosemary, Jess Kerr, Molly Penfold, and Tahuhu Hannah Rowe will also strengthen the pace battery.

New Zealand is placed in Group A and this team played two warm-up matches against England & South Africa consecutively. In the first warm-up match between New Zealand women & England Women, NZ women lost the match by 5 wickets. Whereas, in the 2nd warm-up match between New Zealand Women vs South Africa Women, NZ Women won that match by 8 wickets.
