Uganda Announces Squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024
On May 6th, 2024, Uganda announces squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024, and Brian Masaba is named as Uganda’s captain. Brian Masaba will captain Uganda for the first time at a stage like T20 World Cup.
The vice-captain of Uganda is Riazat Ali Shah, and this team is full of experience with at least a decade of experience. Frank Nsubuga, 43 years old, is also a part of this team and the oldest player in the tournament. He devoted his life to cricket and at the age of 17, he was part of the team in the ICC Champion trophy 1997. He was also a part of the 1999 Cricket World Cup.
Nsubuga is not a single Uganda player, Alpesh Ramjani is also with him in this squad. Alpesh, the spin bowling all-rounder, has continued his form in recent years. In 2023, he was the nominee for the ICC Men’s T20I cricketer of the year award. He also claimed the most T20I wickets in the last year with an economy of under 5 an over. Henry Ssenyondo, a left-arm orthodox spinner, also took 49 wickets in the year 2023.
Dinesh Nakrani & Riazat Ali Shah, two aggressive batters, are also part of this team. Juma Miyaji also played in the U19 World Cup in 2022 at the West Indies. Juma has the experience to play in the West Indies condition and surely will help the Ugandan team.
It is the 1st time Uganda will take part in any senior men’s mega event by the ICC. It was the East Africa team through which Uganda was part of the 1975 Cricket World Cup. The only player from Uganda country, Samuel Walusimbi, was part of the three matches.

Boards have the option to change their initially announced squad by 25 May 2024 without any permission from the (International Cricket Council) ICC. After May 25, 2024, boards shall require permission from ICC’s Technical Committee to make changes in their initial squad in case of injury/ emergency or any unforeseen situation.
