Nassau County International Cricket Stadium Getting Ready
With less than 45 days to go to kick off the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies and the United States of America, the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium is getting ready to host the important matches of the event including the biggest match of the tournament of the arch-rivals Pakistan and India match.
As the United States of America is going to host its first-ever ICC mega event along with West Indies, the preparation of Cricket Stadiums in the country is in progress as the ICC Men’s T20 WC is scheduled to start from 1st June to 29th June 2024. The United States will host a total of 16 matches on its three selected venues i.e. Grand Prairie Stadium Dallas (4), Central Broward Park Lauderhill (4), and Nassau County International Cricket Stadium New York (8).
Nassau County International Cricket Stadium: Host Matches
The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium will host 8 matches of the ICC T20 WC 2024, the most by any venue in the US. This stadium will also host the biggest and high-voltage match of the tournament between Pakistan and India on 9th June 2024. This ground will also be the home ground for all the group matches of India. The preparation of the stadium is in progress and the International Cricket Council provides updates of its construction through their official social media accounts regularly.
Nassau County International Cricket Stadium: Construction
The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium is being constructed temporarily for the mega event. After the conclusion of the ICC T20 WC 2024, the modular architecture of the stadium will be removed. The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium will have a capacity of 34000 spectators which is the most of any cricket venue in the United States. The design of the stadium was unveiled by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on 17th January 2024. The construction of the Nassau County Stadium was started in January 2024 and is expected to be completed in May 2024.
Nassau County International Cricket Stadium: Matches
After the completion of the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, the ground will be hosting warm-up matches of the T20 WC 2024. The Nassau International Cricket Stadium will host its first match of the T20 World Cup on 3rd June which will be played between Sri Lanka and South Africa. Speaking on the 60-day completion of the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, Chris Tetley, the ICC head of events said: “We are pleased to be marking sixty days to go to the ICC Men’s T20 WC 2024. The project to build a complete modular ground in Nassau County is a first for international cricket and we are pleased that construction of the stadium is rolling full as planned. The scale of the ground in the latest time-lapse is remarkable and a visit to the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium is not to be missed.”
